Our latest Research Highlight, based on research published in Chemistry of Materials, explores how high-pressure Raman microscopy can be used to study the structure of materials.

Using an RMS1000 Confocal Microscope coupled with a diamond anvil cell, researchers at Nankai University could correlate shifts in the Raman modes of their novel material with uniform compression under increasing pressure. This was linked to the photoluminescence properties of the material, and helped explain its pressure-sensing capabilities.
