Carbon nanotubes under the microscope

Carbon nanotubes have changed the game (quite literally) of tennis

These microscopic tubes are used to increase the strength, stiffness and power of tennis rackets by adding them into the frame during the manufacturing process. Due to the unique properties of carbon nanotubes, they create a stiffer racket whilst maintaining flexibility. Players feel fewer vibrations, which will help reduce fatigue, and allows for game-winning shots and enhanced comfort.

In our recent application note we take a look into how Raman spectroscopy can examine multiple properties of carbon nanotubes, such as strain, tube diameter, defects, and orientation with help from our RM5 Raman microscope.
