Isotopx

A multitude of tasks need to be completed for nuclear decommissioning.

The historic “Dungeness A” reactor was switched off in 2006, but the process to safely remove materials and handle necessary waste has just begun, with the first stages estimated not to be completed until the year 2090.

Isotope ratio mass spectrometry is becoming a critical tool for researchers and engineers looking to decommission nuclear sites. It can help determine what elements or isotopes are present in a tiny sample and can be used to identify radioactive materials.
