On May 12, 2008, a severe earthquake with the magnitude of 8.0 hit Sichuan Province of China which killed over 69 thousand people and made over 5 million people homeless. Almost all test equipment, reagents and consumables of local counties CDC laboratories were destroyed. It is now not possible for local counties CDC laboratory to carry out the routine testing. The resettled survivors were facing risks rising from infectious diseases, shortage of safe water and food supply.
At this critical moment, Techcomp gave its hands to help the people in disaster areas by donating 10 sets of UV1100 UV-VIS spectrophotometers to Chinese Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for the reconstruction of the emergency public testing laboratories in Sichuan Province, which fully reflects the Chinese persevering and united spirit. We definitely believe under the great supports from all the society, the routine laboratory testing in disaster areas is sure to be recovered shortly and provide significant supports to the post-disaster disease control and prevention.
On December 18, 2008, Test Equipment Donation Ceremony which was organized by Chinese Centers for Disease Control was hold in Beijing. On behalf of Techcomp, vice president Xia Yisheng presented a brief speech in the ceremony. The reconstruction project of the ruined areas need more help from all the country and World. We Techcomp would like to give our best supports to this project and hope the people in those areas would have a better life in the near future.
